CACHE (temporary memory) (collage installation, 2024)

A cache is a memory that holds what is needed for a moment and then releases it. CACHE (temporary memory) was made in public over four hours at Pennings Foundation. Van Gool built the installation on site, spreading analog collages across two walls and connecting them with red thread into a network of associations, while visitors watched the configuration take shape. Round mirrors placed between the images bring the viewer’s reflection into the work. Its making happened under the same gaze it addresses. The installation was Van Gool’s first exploration of how a work can involve the viewer in its own making.
